Baron Baptiste
I don’t actually remember when Baron Baptiste showed up on my radar. I do remember when I first got into Yoga in 2006, the local library had a decent selection of Yoga books and Journey into Power was one of them. I checked it out and proudly carried it to Yoga with me. I was hoping Eva would notice it and ask me about it so we could talk about Yoga. The Journey into Power cover has Baron Baptiste shirtless, in bakasana (crow pose) gazing confidently forward. In Yoga that's c

Kundalini
I believe it was Christmas of 2005. My mother-in-law bought me the "best selling Yoga dvds" on Amazon. It's funny to think how much Amazon has changed in 21 years. Raviana's Kundalini Yoga with Ravi Singh and Ana Brett. They're a married couple where she demonstrates and he for the most part leads with a voice over. She joins in from time to time in the voice over. I fell in love with these dvds. Little did I know how much they would change my life. At the time I was a career

Music - Does it enhance the practice or is it a distraction?
When I was little I watched a lot of movies and I would get lost in their soundtracks. Two in particular that stick out to me are Terminator and Back to the Future. It was hard because I didn't know what to expect however I left the class excited. Being 21 or so, I marched up to my parents' bedroom where they were watching television in bed and shared that I took a Yoga class. I was so proud of myself! This is my personality type. When I'm

It's not all sunshine & lollipops
I’m a 45 year old woman. Heck. I’ll be 46 in another month. I’ve got a lot of baggage. I’m a yoga teacher and a damn good one. My yoga story began well over 20 years ago. The very first time at a fitness first class on Jefferson St. I have no idea of who the was. She had dyed red hair. Was a fuller body and spoke metaphorically. We did down dog that I thought was going to kill me and tree pose which I thought “what? this bitch is insane.” Fast forward 8 years or so. I was int
